Minimum wage, "guarded" by Vosganian

The unionist are left again empty handed.

Varujan Vosganian, the minister of economy and finances, rejected, yesterday, again, the solicitation on the increase of the medium wage from 500 to 540 lei. The minister justified his position with the unfullfilling of two of the three necessary conditions: GDP, inflation target and work productivity.

"I stand on my initial position. For the growth of the minimum wage three conditions must be accomplished, but only one was realized", said Vosganian, quoted by Mediafax. So, from the three criteria, only the growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) favors the increase of the minimum income. As for the other pointers, the mister of finances says that "an agreement between the patronages and unions, through which the unions to justify the wage increase with productivity. (...) BNR must validate that we are in the inflation target". The next round of negotiations between unions and the government will take place Thursday, July 10.

Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu invited the union leaders for consultations at the Victoria Palace. At the meeting will participate the minister of economy and finances and the minister of labor Paul Pacuraru. Angry that the government doesn't want to give up, last week, approximately a hundred of unionists protested for several hours at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor and at the Ministry of Finances.
