„Little Note” Scandal Ripples The Romanian Political Scene

The alleged note sent by PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu to President Traian Basescu makes waves in the Romanian political stage.

Various Liberal politicians voiced their doubts over the authenticity of the alleged note sent by PM Tariceanu to President Basescu asking him to interfere in favor of Rompetrol’s owner Dinu Patriciu, indicted for various economic crimes.

Economy  minister Varujan Vosganian, along with  Liberals Radu Stroe, and Marius Oprea said that if the note ever comes out,  it is highly probable that it could be a fake.

Adrian Cioroianu said that is the note is indeed authentic then, the President and the PM are both equally guilty, one for asking, the other for keeping silence.

Last week, during a TV show, former presidential counselor  Elena Udrea said that Basescu received a note from Tariceanu asking him to interfere in favor of Rompetrol’s owner Dinu Patriciu, indicted for various economic crimes.

The President did not deny the existence of such a note but failed to comment any further.
