Energy Trials Start Echoing

Conspiracy  and sabotaging national economy are a few of the accusations brought against nine people with key-positions within the national energy system.

Prosecutors from specialized in organized crime launched an investigation on the irregularities in the national energy system that appears to be the first step towards clarifying the shady deals made by the “smart energy boys” as Presiden Basescu called them.

Nine people are already charged in this file for two  grave accusations : conspiracy and sabotaging national economy .

Tow of the defendants showed up in Court yesterday and were presented with the charges against them: Nicolae Opris, president of the Romanian energy watchdog or ANRE and Traian Oprea, president of Hidroelectrica company .

Former economy minister Codrut Seres is expected today for hearings at the Prosecutor’s Office as he was already charged a few months ago  with sabotaging  national economy, spying and betraying national interests, in another file on privatizations in the energy industry.

”The accusations brought against me are all of them absurd. Nothing was done in three months. All they have to do now is accuse me of genocide and they can complete their masquerade ”, Seres commented on the new investigation  initiated by  the prosecutors.
