PM Calin Poescu Tariceanu announced on the First of April that he would sign the dismissal of all PD ministers.
With the look of one announcing the death of a loved one, Tariceanu announced a Government reshuffling in which ministers affiliated to the Democratic Party or PD will take no part in. "The PNL-PD Alliance has no more internal resources to come up with a solution”, Taricanu announced thus justifying his decision of dismissing the PD ministers.
The PM said that the new Government will be structured on a PNL-UDMR (Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania), a decision taken after a few days of negotiations , fruitful with UDMR and unsuccessful with the Democrats.
Tariceanu had another discussion with Emil Boc, leader of PD . Tariceanu said to keep PD in the Government with the sole condition of sacking ministers Vasile Blaga, Monica Macovei and Radu Berceanu. After Boc said no, Tariceanu made up his mind.
During a speech which started with repeating obsessively “ dear Romanians”, Taricaenu explained that PD’s dismissal from the Government is necessary in order to continue reforms necessary to the Romanian people.
Tariceanu said that keeping the Democrats would jeopardize the Government’s activity as they proved that their own party interest (mostly President Basescu’s interests as Basescu was president of PD) count more than the state’s affairs .
Tariceanu also said President Basescu is responsible with the current political crisis.
