The president made yesterday the first move towards the premier’s removal.
In the invitation that he sent to the leaders of the Parliament parties at Cotroceni, on Friday, the president openly showed his preference for a government formula PNL-PD-PLD, without Tariceanu.
Blaga, Stolojan or Geoana for PM?
After excluding the possibility of anticipated elections, Basescu came with the proposal of identifying, together with the parties, a prime minister who would present to the Parliament a government team made out of PNL-PD-PLD members.
The future prime minister will have the obligation of negotiating a Parliament majority clearly assumed, said the president. After the calculi at Cotroceni, it will not be Calin Popescu Tariceanu, but Vasile Blaga or Theodor Stolojan.
The PNL-PD-PLD formula would be sustained in the Parliament by UDMR, but the latter will not actually be in power anymore. According to official sources, the formula was also debated with the liberals, without the knowledge of the premier.
After the departure of Tariceanu, PSD leaders take into consideration the hypothesis of entering in the government. PSD sources sustain that Basescu has guaranteed to allow them to make a government led by Mircea Geoana. On Friday, when the local branches gather, there will be a vote upon the following: entering the government, staying in the opposition or anticipated elections. The deal with PSD, out of the question
After a secret meeting which took place on Monday evening with PSD and PD leaders, Tariceanu’s faith seems sealed. “I bet that July will find Romania with a government lead by other than Calin Popescu Tariceanu”, said Emil Boc on Monday evening at Antena 3. PSD-PNL negotiations have failed
PSD leaders left pretty upset from the secret negotiations had on Sunday evening with the PNL management, in the office of Bogdan Olteanu. It was a disappointment. “We were waiting for a concrete proposal from Tariceanu”, said Geoana to PSD leaders at the informing about the negotiations.
