The former soccer star, currently president of UEFA, granted an interview to EVZ at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon.
To reach Michel Platini is almost as difficult as to reach a head of the state after the former soccer star won the elections for the leadership of UEFA, becoming the number one man in the European soccer.
After a short press conference, Platini had a first session of interviews with the international press yesterday.
The fprmer captain of the French soccer team refused no question but acted in a diplomatic fashion to certain “hot topics” like like the revolution of Eastern Federations and the role of Mircea Sandu, President of Romania’s Soccer federation in his election.
A special pass allowed EV reporters to reach Platini During the interview, Platini denied that Mircea Sandu played any role in convincing Eastern Federations to vote for him. “I know all the presidents of the Eastern Federations. Mircea Sandu is just a food friend”, he said.
The former soccer star also said he is good friend with all of Romania’s former sport stars: gymnast Nadia Comeneci and tennis player Ilie Nastase.
He added that he would have like to play alongside with former captain of the Romanian soccer team during the 90s, Gheorghe Hagi.
