IOANA LUPEA: "Ludovic Orban admits that he received pocket money from Dinu Patriciu."
Not many, "some". The rest is probably going somewhere else, supposed the liberal candidate. Let's not throw the rock at Orban. His honesty is rare: from his competitors we couldn't get any answers about their finances. They all pretend that they are Barack Obama, that they made their campaign with several hundred thousands euro from the economy checks of their sympathizers.
Ludovic Orban could have live, to say in a populist way, like Sorin Oprescu, that he is loved by the people. We already knew, from "Academia Catavencu" that he is using the Transportation Ministry vehicles, because he is so helpless. The statement "Patricu also donated, but it's possible that he also donated somewhere else" is deliberate, it didn't just slipped. He is moving away slightly from the bussines man Dinu Patriciu and points his finger at another candidate who could be in the liberal sponsor's grace.
Ludoic Orban's hunch seems well founded, if we remember the 2004 precedent. The liberal tycoon gave to the PSD campaign for the local elections a sum that was four times larger than the one donated to Alianta D.A., according to accounts released by the newspaper "Bursa". Cought on the act and with the angry party at his door, Dinu Patriciu invoked a completely different principle from his philosophy in life and bussines, the equity: I have balanced the political donations. If as, the miserable PSD, was starving after four years of government under Adrian Nastase and couldn't handle the expenses.
In favor of who will be pointed, in 2008, the thirst of equity of the bussines man? We know that Ludovic Orban received some money. It;s in a way natural, Dinu Patricu is one of PNL's important sponsors, just after Dan Andronic. He is hating Traian Basescu that he wouldn't throw a bone to his bulldog Vasile Blaga. Knowing his visible sympathy for PSD - he financially and politicaly supported a PSD-PNl alliance - the suspects could remain only Cristian Diaconescu and Sorin Oprescu. The first, as official candidate, is benefiting of the official financial support from PSD and he is the unrested enemy of Dinu Patricu's friend, Dan Radu Rusanu. Sorin Oprescu, who has chances in the elections, who's victory could change the balance of force in PSD and with direct access just to the small fortune of Costel Bobic and to the emotional support of the "poor and honest" president, seems the ideal beneficiar of the sense of justice which is felt every four years by Dinu Patriciu.
If we wouldn't have confessions like Orban's or the insisting investigations of the media, the public opinion would never find out who is investing in who and why. Maybe the suspicion of the liberal candidate speaks of the personal disappointment and doesn't have a real basis. If such a statement attracts the attention that the financing transparency of the political parties exists just on paper. And that the large sponsors, generous with the left and the right, already learned how to hide their identity from the legitimate curiosity of the public opinion.
